WHY MEDITATE

There's a reason that something that's been around for nearly 5,000 years still exists today – it works! Modern science agrees that maintaining a regular meditation practice can greatly benefit your body, mind, and overall wellbeing.

Meditation, when practiced regularly, can actually strengthen the brain (as it is a muscle) and rewire it.  Results vary person to person (as meditation is ultimately a unique experience). But the topline facts suggest that meditation can reduce stress, improve mental and physical health, and lead to greater states of happiness.  Sounds pretty damn good!

6 MEDITATION MYTHS BUSTED

1 // You do not need an empty mind.

That's impossible, as we have over 50,000 thoughts a day.  Meditation is about practicing focusing the mind, and less about clearing it.

2 // You do not need to sit cross-legged or even on the floor.

Meditation is best when comfortable.  You can sit or lie as appropriate.

3 // You do not need to meditate for an hour every day.

Meditation, even in small amounts, can be effective. Just do what you can.

4 // You do not have to be religious to meditate.

Meditation is for everyone; the spirituality is optional.

5 // You do not need to chant.

There are thousands of meditation methods out there, many of which do not involve chanting or ceremonies.

6 // Meditators are not weirdos.

In fact, everyone is doing it now! Celebrities, athletes, and CEO-types find meditation to be awesome.
